Action is being taken to check on police officers who had neglected their duties while on election duty, Inspector General of Police, Lucky Kodituwakku said.

He further said that most police officers had done their duties honestly but there were some who had acted contrary to election laws. Disciplinary action would be instituted against them.

Accordingly there would be several transfers in the police in the near future.

He said that those police officers responsible for the arrest of suspects wanted in connection with election violence would be considered for rewards.
