| Bring all environment related institutions under one ministry In a letter to the Prime Minister Mr. Ranil Wickremesinghe, Dr. Prasanna S. Cooray, the General Secretary of Green Party, Sri Lanka, requests that all the government institutions that deal with environment be brought under one Ministry. He further says that many problems at policy and managerial level have arisen in issues related to the environment in the past, as these institutions are scattered under different ministries. Full text of the letter follows: It is a well known fact that during many past regimes, some state departments, statutory boards and authorities that deal with environment has been vested under many ministries other than the Environment Ministry. Needless to say that this kind of errant allocation has created a lot of confusion in smooth function of theses institutions, and the end result being chaos in environment management. Therefore, Green Party of Sri Lanka wish to request you to consider bringing at least the under mentioned institutions under the Ministry of Environment in order to minimize the managerial disarray that prevail in the environmental field today. 1.
