Troops on a fighting patrol ahead of the Forward Defence Line in the general area of Kilaly, about 4 kms. south of Eluthumadduval had observed a group of terrorists and engaged them with small arms fire on 13th December around 10.15 a.m. in the Jaffna peninsula.

Terrorists also retaliated with small arms fire and fled the area with their casualties.

Troops confirmed two terrorists killed in the confrontation.

No casulaties to own troops.

In Welioya, a soldier was wounded due to an explosion of a trapped hand grenade in the general area of Kokkuthuduvai, about 17 kms. northwest of Pulmoddai while troops were on a dominating patrol on 13th December around 12 noon.

The wounded soldier was evacuated to Anuradhapura hospital for treatment.
