Newly elected govt.

I am a reader of ‘The Island’ on net. I agree with most of your views but not always. I am a Tamil living in the west for 20 years. I visited my country this summer after 20 years and came back to UK with lot of patriotism. But I cry for my tamil brothers and sisters who have been victimised by both goverments for half a century. In 1994, we all thought CBK would solve the Tamils’ problem. Alas! She too played the nasty political game and ruined the country! At least we hope the new PM would do a better job than any others because he witnessed the problems from the otherside of the rope. He knew well that he could not do any good to the country unless he allows his conscience to see back why the Tamils suffered for ages and why LTTE was born.

The media is No.1 enemy in Sri Lanka to empoison the majority with ‘fairy tales’ and racially motivated articles. In the last election no party was telling what they wanted to do the country instead they played mudslinging games by telling who had links to the LTTE and secret pacts with them. At least, the general public has proved that the racial-game was only for winning the election.

They gave a clear mandate to the new PM to solve the Tamil problem first and the economy the second. If the new PM will hear the sincere voices of the hearts, the country will heal its wounds in the comimg years. If not, like his ‘Guru’ if he will ask ‘If you want war- then WAR or peace..’ then Sri Lanka will continue to be the state of Pariah internationally! The atrocities of the Army in the north will give births to new Prabhakarans without any doubt. No one is going to win but everyone is going to suffer! At least my children can return to our country and live peacefully as brothers and sisters.
