The whole country is in a mess. There are many reasons for this and some of them are as follows:

(1) The ruthless LTTE is destroying public property and killing men, women, children, and even babies.

(2) Politicians are fighting among themselves while the people are dying.

(3) The Police who should enforce the law have failed in their duty. The excuse given is lack of manpower. Lawbreakers are having a field day!

(4) Public complaints are not heeded by the powers that be. Not even letters from the public are replied to or acknowledged.

(5) The C.O.L. has risen to dizzy heights.

(6) Rape, robbery, gang war and under-world activities are so rampant.

Despite all this we keep laughing as a nation. What Prof. Henry M. said In the aftermath of the sledge-hammer blows that USA suffered on Sept. 11 applies to the devastation caused by the LTTE here: "By finding something to cause laughter, we re-connect our life-affirming potential.

By laughing we can indicate that we as a nation can bounce back from injury and threat to proclaim our determination to live our lives as we see fit and not bow down to any tyrant or madman, no matter how many terrorists he may send our way". (Reuters)
