I think there are about five hundred and fifty Pirivenas in Sri Lanka. Actually, the teachers of these Pirivenas are dealing with the same work as government school teachers. But some of the facilities given to the government teachers are denied to these Pirivena teachers. Actually this is very unreasonable as they render an invaluable service in respect of the educating bhikkus and others.

Therefore, they must also be given concessional loans etc, that government teachers are entitled to.

It is hoped the new government will consider this favourably.
