Mr. M. R. Prelis has been appointed chairman of the Ceylon Electricity Board with effect from December 24, a Power and Energy Ministry spokesman said. Mr. Prelis replaces K.L.Ariyananda.

The appointment was made by Power and Energy Minister Karu Jayasuriya.

Prelis was the Chief Executive Officer of the DFCC Bank before taking over the top post of the Nations Trust Bank.
