The Editor of "The Island" deserves praise from all patriotic Sri Lankans for the brave and forthright editorials he has been writing in the last few days. The editorial in today’s Island (27.12.01) "Kicking into our own goal" indeed a masterpiece.

The editorial fearlessly states that "President Premadasa kicked into her own goal by arming the LTTE to fight the Indians". The purpose of this letter is to highlight the fact that the very same top officials who were advisors to President Premadasa when he made the "magnanimous" gesture are back again as top advisors to the Prime minister.

We hope they will not coax him also to kick into his own goal.
