Commerce and consumer affairs minister Ravi Karunanayake appointed businessman Nahil Wijesuriya as the chairman of the Cooperative Wholesale Establishment (CWE) with effect from Tuesday, sources said.

Others in the board include former managing director New Zealand Products Ltd (the then sole agents for Anchor milk products) and Jones Overseas Ltd Sumi Moonesinghe, former president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (ICASL) Ranel T. Wijesinha and human resources director Glaxo SmithKline Beecham Dinesh Weerakkody. Meanwhile, former UNP MP for Dehiwela Sunethra Ranasinghe has been appointed as the chairperson of the State Pharmaceutical Corporation. (PA)
