Seventy Club?

Reading the newspapers these past few weeks, it was surprising to see that retired civil servants born before 1940s have been re-employed.

It is obvious that the government needs talented and intelligent brains to implement decisions to overcome many challenges faced by them. However, aren’t there high ranking public servants who have not yet retired with such brains in the government service? Isn’t the maximum retirement age of a public servant 60 years. Obviously, this is seen as a repetition of wrong doings by the past regime.

This kind of action will only lead to demoralization of educated and talented young officials in the public service. What Sri Lanka need is not "Yes" men but capable and honest public servants who will take correct decisions without any bias.
