GL to lead business team to Bangladesh in March

Enterprise Development, Industrial Policy and Investment Promotion Minister G. L. Peiris will be leading a business and investment mission to Bangladesh from March 8 to 11 to meet counterparts their and explore prospects of new business, the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL) which is one of the organisers of the visit, said.

The delegation will also explore bilateral trade, joint ventures, exchange of technology and tourism among others.

The visit is jointly organised by the Sri Lanka Bangladesh Business Council (SLBBC) and FCCISL. Mr. Ashraf-ud-Doula, the Bangladesh High Commissioner here, will accompany the delegation.

FCCISL said in a news release that tremendous economic growth has transformed Bangladesh into a developed country and there were many business opportunities for those who seek opportunities there.

Many Sri Lankan garment manufacturing companies and the hospitality trade has already ventured into projects in Bangladesh. Vanik, the Sri Lanka incorporated merchant bank, has a company in Bangladesh.

FCCISL said that the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Vanik Bangladesh will arrange meetings with counterpart business partners for Lankan businessmen who will join the delegation.
