Kavan Rambukwella the well known ruggerite passed away last evening after a brief illness. He played Rugby for Trinity College Kandy and was awarded the coveted "Trinity Lion". After leaving school he joined the CR and FC and was shortly after capped for Ceylon and was a regular member of the team for many years. He was elected President of the CR in 1974. In 1978 he was elected President of the SLRFU.

In 2001 he was made a Knight of the Lions, the highest award made by Trinity College to a distinguished old boy considered a role model by the school.
