Power cuts are likely to be extended to six hours per day due to the water levels in the catchment areas around the hydro power generating plants dropping by 21 per cent, Ceylon Electricity Board sources said.

These sources said that though rainfall was experienced in most parts of the country during the last few days there was hardly any rain fall in the catchment areas.
