The Kandy Society of Medicine (KSM) has awarded the KSM Prize for Health Research for 2002 to Professor Sunethra Atukorala of the Colombo Medical Faculty in recognition of her research, over the past 20 years in the field of clinical nutrition in the rural population of Sri Lanka.

The Prize of Rs. 30,000 will be awarded to her by the President of the Kandy Society of Medicine during the Annual Academic Sessions scheduled for February 14 to 16, to be held at the Plant Genetic Resources Centre in Gannoruwa, Peradeniya.

The KSM Prize for Health Research which was established in 1992 is awarded to outstanding scientists, who through their dedicated research, have contributed to the improvement of health in Sri Lanka.
