| IDL Spectrum - US$300,000 IT training company opens IDL Spectrum, an Indo Sri Lanka BOI approved joint venture IT training company was launched recently at the Colombo Hilton in the presence of Hon. Kabir Hashim, Minister for Tertiary Education and Training, representatives of the BOI and the media. Spectrum Training Centre (Pvt.) Ltd., wjhich is doing business as IDL Sspectrum, is focussed on becoming the largest Human Resource Development Centre in Sri Lanka, concentrating on a combination of IT coupled with training in the English language. IDL Spectru m which plans to invest to the tune of US$300,000 in T training, aims to go nationwide within a period of 24 months. Thje Board comprises Chairman IDL India V. Kupparaj, Chairman IDL Spectrum Jayanthan Kulasingham, CEO IDL Spectrum and Mrs. Gowri Kulasingham, while the senior management team includes senior manager Operations P. A. Rupakumar, manager business development N. Salim Ahmed, R and D consultants M. S. Arunm and M. J. Manikandan and a team of other professionals. Speaking at the launch, Chairman IDL Spectrum Jkayanthan Kulasingham said that it was their vision to build an organisation that is totally employee driven, with an uncompromising commitment and single minded focus towards guiding the student in acwuiring the appropriate skills and knowledge to achieve and succeed. "We will be an IT training centre that will introduce career oriented traaaining in the field of Bluetooth Bioinformatics, and embedded controllers, thus making us pioneers in offering these courses, leaving competition far behind" he said. With the aim of creating valuable dhuman resources, IDL Spectrum will be exposing students to the latest IT trends, challanges and cutting edge technologies. Kulasingham said that education and training would be their primary focus with lecturers being brought down from India, while they wouild also be recruiting English teachers to coach students who lack proficiency. The company has a vision of becoming the largest HRD company in Sri Lanka by opening up training centres in multiple locations around the country. Students will have access to Bluetooth application kits imported from Sweden and virtual lab faciliity in Bioinformatics. IDL Spectrums R and D consultants M. S. Arunm and M. J. Manikandan made a presentation on the company and the courses it offers and said that not only would they be introducing pioneering courses isuch as Bluetooth and Bioinformatics in Sri Lanka but that course fees would also be at a lower l;evel weithout any compromise on quality. With the governments emphasis on developing and promi=oting Sri Lanka as an IT Resource Centre and Hub in the region, IDL Sspectrum is expected to fill a long felt void in this crucial and vital area. |
