First class postal service in Sri Lanka

Over Christmas and New Year I was lucky enough to spend a holiday in Sri Lanka, and on December 27th I posted nine postcards to addresses in England, U.K. from Thalawathugoda Post Office. However, after posting them I realised that I had not in fact written a country of destination on the cards. As they were meant to go to such obscure places as Rawtenstall in Lancashire, Widnes in Cheshire and Gillingham in Dorset, I deduced that none of them was likely to arrive.

I had obviously figured without the detectives in the Post Office because, gradually, they started to arrive - much slower than the correctly addressed ones, but miraculously and most impressively arriving!

I am writing to the Postmaster General to express my thanks and admiration, but also thought that you might like to know of this impressive feat.

It seems to me that people in Sri Lanka often criticise what they see as a lackadaisical approach to service over there, and I believe that credit should be given where credit is due. (The Royal Mail in England is often far less efficient!)
