Ananda records first innings points over Joes

Ananda registered a resounding first innings win over St. Joseph’s through a remarkable five wicket haul by off spinner Yohan Wickremage ( 5 for 53) in their Lemonade Trophy Inter-school cricket match which ended at Ananda Mawatha yesterday.

Ananda resuming from an overnight score of 278 for 5, declared the innings at a formidable 310 for 7 wickets and then bowled out the visitors for 223. Ananda openers, Duminda Kularatna (56) and Mahela Udawatta (71) compiled a vital 115 run partnership for the first wicket on the opening day of the match.

St.Joseph’s built their innings around three useful knocks which came off the bats of T. Wijeratne (43), S.Gunewardena (40) and G. Perera (41) .

Ananda were 40 for no loss at close in their second innings.
