Sri Lanka Telecom calls it a "tariff re-balance." Somebody else said it
was a "re-adjustment." In plain English, it means that anyone owning a SLT phone
will have to pay more for their calls from next month.
Informed SLT sources said that the company is planning to hike call rates twice this year,
both times by 15%. The first adjustment is expected next month, while the other may come
in July. However, Telecom officials and the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC)
were reluctant to make a commitment on the dates.
