Kenilworth factory receives certification

According to the estate manager Ajitha De Alwis, Kenilworth Tea Factory adopted a unique strategy in the implementation of ISO 9002: 1994 to accrue its true benefits. "We did not prioritise for a certificate but we wanted the system to provide us with a final product to obtain a premium price, maximize profits by arresting waste, optimising resources and last but not least to create a quality culture. We have achieved all these objectives during the ISO 9002 implementation phase. We obtained record prices for some of our grades at the auctions. We have a workforce trained and committed to respond promptly to convert ideas to reality. We have a factory with exemplary house keeping based on ‘5S’ concepts" said Ajitha De Alwis.
