A one-day seminar on the ‘Japanese market’ organized by the marketing Division of Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) in collaboration with JETRO Colombo and the EDB Provincial Office in Kurunegala was attended by 58 participants from the Wayamba Chamber of Commerce, and Kurunegala District Importers Association and other entrepreneurs of the Wayamba Province.This seminar was held recently.

Yasuyuki Ishiga, the Acting Resident Representative of JETRO Colombo was the chief guest at this seminar. He address stressing on the assistance provided by JETRO to small and medium enterprises to enter the Japanese market successfully.

Other speakers were, Tissa Galagoda, Manager JETRO Colombo, who explained the Issues encountered when planning to enter the Japanese market and how to overcome them, Vernon Abeyratne, an exporter to Japan who spoke about his practical experience of the Japanese market and Nihal Mawella, Deputy Director, Marketing, EDB who spoke on Japanese culture and the promotion of Sri Lankan products to Japan.Selected video films supplied by JETRO Colombo on various aspects of the Japanese market and business culture were also shown at this seminar.(JETRO update)
