| CEB arrogance: Shock therapy needed The CEB went ahead with a 30 percent tariff hike. When they increased the charges last time with a surcharge, they promised do away with the latter when charges were increased later. But now we are burdened with the increase as well as the surcharge. The Finance Minister also in his budget speech reiterated that no additional burdens would be imposed on the ordinary people. I use only one light in the night and watch TV only during night. But I am being placed on the third block (61 to 90 units) as I have used 80 units in March/Feb. and charged accordingly. It is clear that the CEB has arbitrarily imposed its decisions on the people despite the well known fact that most of the additional charges have been necessitated by improper planning, waste and sheer extravaganza on the part of the CEB officials. It is high time the minister concerned held all CEB high ups responsible for their
negligence, the betrayal of the peoples confidence and treating the CEB as their
private property. |
