Sri Lanka Telecom Badulla Branch emerged Netball Champions at the Quadrangular sports programme organised by Sri Lanka Telecom conducted at the Vincent Dias Stadium on May day.

Bandarawela, Badulla, Nuwara Eliya and Hatton participated at this sports festival where Cricket, Volleyball and Netball were scheduled to be conducted. Only Netball tournament was completed while Cricket finals were abandoned and not a ball was served in the Volleyball tournament.

In the Netball finals Badulla beat Bandarawela by 8 - 7: Earlier Bandarawela beat Nuwara Eliya.

The following played for the Badulla Telecom team:

Vathsala. Welikanne (Capt.), Nandani Samranayake (V. Capt.), Jayanthi Manamperi, Vajira Ariyaratne, H. M. M. R. Heenkenda, Shiranthi Wickramasinghe, Meena Rathnam and Chamila Samarathunge. Coach - Mrs. Nilanthi Wittachchie.

Cricket finals were abandoned and both Badulla and Nuwara Eliya were adjudged as joint winners.

Cricket Semifinals:

Badulla beat Bandarawela by 4 wickets. Scores: Bandarawela 88 for 7 (Abeysekera 23. Sarath Dissanayake 25 and Priyantha 2 for 17) Badulla 89 for 6 (Saman Abeysekera 31, N. Nalinda Hettiarachchie 21, Asoka Fernando 3 for 13). Nuwara Eliya beat Hatton — Scores: Hatton 47 all out (Randeniya 4 for 13, Wijerathne 3 for 04 and M. S. Perera 2 for 16) Nuwara Eliya 52 for 3 (Chaminda Paranawithane 27)

Finals: Badulla 62 for 7 (Priyantha Fernando 16, Kisho Kumar 14 and Randeniya 2 for 12) Nuwara Eliya 7 for 1 when rain prevented further play.

The Volleyball tournament scheduled for afternoon was cancelled due to heavy rain.
