Buddhists leave for China

KANDY
— A delegation of Buddhists headed by the Mahanayake of Malwatte Chapter Most Ven. Rambukwelle Sri Wipassi Thera left for China to attend a Buddhist religious programme in that country.

The delegation was invited by the Cultural and Religious Ministry of China for over a week’s stay in that country.

Diyawadana Nilame of the Sri Dalada Maligawa Neranjan Wijeyeratne, Ven. Dr. Pannila Ananda Thera of the Attanagalle Raja Maha Vihare and Chief Sanghanayake, Seenadi Siu Korale, members of the Karaka Maha Sangha Sabha (Supreme Council) of Malwatte Chapter Vens. Dimbulkumbure Wimaladhamma and Henepola Nandasiri Theras, trustee of the Gangarama Vihare of Kandy V. A. B. Wijekoon and Colombo businessman Thusitha Wijesena, were also in the team.

The delegation is expected to visit a number of shrines and attend several meetings organised to exchange views relating to the propagation of the Buddha’s message with the joint efforts of China and Sri Lanka.
