Chairman and three directors of C.W. Mackie quit, CEO retires

Three directors of C. W. Mackie & Co. Ltd., including its Chairman, Mr. B. M. Amarasekera, has resigned from the board while its Managing Director/Chief Executive, Mr. A. G. L. Perera, has announced his retirement from the company effective from June 30.

The other two directors who are quitting are Messrs. A. D. B. Talwatte and M. R. Prelis whose resignations are effective from June 12.

C. W. Mackie has informed the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) that its directors have decided on June 12 to de-list its shares from the official list of the CSE and will in due course make the necessary application to the Securities and Exchange Commission in terms of the applicable rules.

The Danish interest in the C. W. Mackie group are the major shareholders who are expected to restructure the company following the de-listing.

The majority shareholders of C. W. Mackie are Aarhus Oliefabrik of Denmark (30%), the Industrialization Fund for Developing Countries of Denmark (29.9%) and the Ceylon Trading Company (26.5%). These interests own nearly 90%.

C. W. Mackie has been in trouble for the past several years.
