Special Presidential Commissions out

Justice Minister W. J. M. Lokubandara has been directed by the government to prepare legislation for repealing the Special Presidential Commission of Inquiry Law of 1978, senior governmental sources said.

The repeal of this law will clip the president’s wings with regard to the appointing of such commissions, several of which had been appointed since the law was first enacted.
