| Politicos are not demi-gods As PM Ranil Wickremesinghe has correctly and bravely pointed out, no one should be above the law. He acted correctly when he asked the Airforce chief to resign in an unfortunate incident. Why is Thondaman treated differently in his arrogant conduct compared to the Airforce Chiefs? Is Thondaman a super minister and an indispensable asset to the nation that he can walk into a Police Station and threaten people? The PM should order the minister (he is not even the minister for security) to apologize and he should reprimand this man for his arrogance. He should be asked to apologize to the policemen who were trying to do their duty. The new PM has led by exemplary example. Yet sadly some of the ministers are still of the old mentality that they are untouchable, and above reproach. If the ministers should all heed Ranils example, then the nation will be headed to a better place. We are also pleased to see some of his Royalist cabinet members have also led by example to the nation. But the rest of the doo-dahs need to follow the lead or get out and let the good ministers do their job. This nation needs to progress from its typical Indian style politics where politicians
are treated as demi-gods. If Thondaman wants to behave like this he can run for office in
Andra Pradesh or Bihar where politicians make clowns of themselves. And he can take some
of the ministers in this cabinet and those who were in the PA cabinet as well. |
