The chairman of the Baddegama Pradeshiya Sabha, Ananda Lanerolle was attacked by unknown men who stormed his home in the early hours of yesterday at Nayapamula causing injury to him.

Police said a gang had broken into his house causing damage to the house and used a blunt weapon to attack Lanerolle on the chest.

The domestic aide in the house too had been attacked with a blunt weapon and his condition is critical, police said.

Lanerolle too was warded at the Karapitiya hospital, police added.

Baddegama police are continuing investigations.
