A well-known hotelier in Matara, Dananjaya Jayasena Wanigasekera (58) was found dead at his residence under suspicious circumstances. At the post mortem conducted by JMO. Dr. Upali Rathnayake it was pronounced that the death was due to head and body injuries caused by a blunt instrument.

The Crimes Branch of Matara Police produced the deceased person’s wife, Iluppellage Dayawathie and the two sons before the Matara Chief Magistrate, Mackie Mohammed who ordered them to be remanded till the 19th of this month.

Further investigations are being conducted under the direction of HQI CI Sarath Kottearachchi by OIC Crimes IP Sarath Dassanayake, PSS 844 Wickramatunga and Abeygunawardene.
