The Sri Lanka Ceramics Cluster and The Competitiveness Initiative/USAID will inaugurate the Sri Lanka Ceramics Symposium at Colombo on Saturday.

The opening address will be delivered by Ranjith Fernando, Secretary, Enterprise Development, Industrial Policy and Investment Promotion Ministry.

The ceramics industry’s internationally focused two day symposium is being held with the objective of concentrating on key strategic issues in the local and global market in relation to traditional ceramics, exploring avenues for diversification into advanced ceramics and opportunities for technology transfer and encouraging scientific research connected with the ceramics industry beginning at the tertiary level.

The symposium will feature a host of eminent international speakers from the ceramics industry including Imerys of France, Johnson Matthey of the UK, Sacmi of Italy, Sama and Reidhammer of Germany and also presentations will be made by the Managing Editor of Asian Ceramics and Asian Glass Magazine of the UK, the Director of Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute and Vice President of the Indian Ceramic Society and the Director of NYS Central for Advanced Ceramic Technology in Alfred University, New York.
