The 25th anniversary of the Friendship Society of Welson City, the Netherlands and Galle City of Sri Lanka fell on Thursday.

Two groups of visitors from The Netherlands paid a visit to Galle to commemorate the occasion.

The first group was led by SOS Welson Group, Jak Subbier and the second group by Mayor of Welson City, Farn S. Sartock.

The visitors were received by Galle Mayor Lionel Premasiri and will stay in Galle for six days.

During their stay discussions will be held with the Mayor of Galle over the development of Dutch Canal. They will also visit the Welson Housing Scheme at Magalle where 50 houses have been constructed and donated for poor people in 1977 with funds provided by The Netherlands.

A foundation stone also will be laid to construct a day care centre with funds provided by the friendship society.
