Wedding bells ring for ex-swimmer Upeksha

swim.jpg (10485 bytes)Upeksha Silva a champion swimmer who quit the game at the height of her fame a few years ago will get married to Ravi Rajapakse on Monday September 23 at Colombo Hilton.

Her fiance Ravi Rajapakse has a MSC in Dermatology.

Upeksha was a ace swimmer produced by Musaeus College and won numerous swimming meets both here and abroad before calling it day at the age of 17.

Upeksha Silva was a poolist at the fifth South Asian Federation Games held in Colombo in 1992.

She was also picked for the 6th Asia Pacific Age Group Swimming Championships in Beijing China.

She went onto win two diplomas.

Upeksha also hails from a sporting family where her father and mother were both past swimmers in their own right.

Father Dayananda Silva an old Anandian was also a sportsman and mother Sandaya was a keen sportswoman of Ananda Balika.

In addition to that her only brother Dulanka presently studying in London also of the Colombo International School was a promising swimmer winning laurels for the CIS.

Upeksha Silva also has excelled in Arts and Music apart from her prowess in swimming.

She won the World first place the Supreme Gold Medal at the Korean Children World School of Art Exhibition held in South Korea in 1989.
