| Police probe attack on Hartley College principal Point Pedro police launched a probe to identify the persons responsible for the recent attack on principal of the Hartley College, Point Pedro, security sources said yesterday. The victim was identified as one of the few people who tried to prevent students from getting involved in the recent attack on the armys Point Pedro Brigade headquarters. The sources said that he was abducted and assaulted by persons angered by his efforts to keep the students out of street protests inspired by the LTTE and its sympathisers in the area. He always co-operated with civilian and military authorities, the sources said, adding that they were confident of identifying the gang responsible for the attack. The Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) too had been informed, the sources said. |
