Pantene, the world’s number one shampoo brand manufactured by Proctor and Gamble will sponsor the ‘Pantene Hair Asia Pacific Show 2002’ hair dressing competition was held from 15- 17 October in Malaysia at the Sunway Lagoon Resort Hotel.

In fact Pantene has recently introduced a new range of shampoos and conditioners to the local market which have been a success in international markets.

This event is organised by the Sri Lanka Association of Hairdressers and Beauticians (SLAHAB) is being held for the sixth year.

Hair Asia Pacific was first held in Colombo in 1996 and thereafter in 98 and 99 and due to its tremendous popularity was held at the Park Sheraton Hotel in Chennai India in 2000 and at the Le Meridien in Bangkok in 2001.

The SLAHAB, now memebrs of the Organization Mondiale Coiffure (OMC) - World Hairdressers Association of Paris, along with Pantene Pro Vitamin B, who are the sponsors of this spectacular event, will be bringing together leading hair stylists together with new talent.

Judging will take place in eight categories namely Commercial Hair Cut and Blow Dry for both ladies and men, Ladies Elegant Hair style for Long Hair, Creative Hair Cut and Style for both ladies and men, Nail Art, Bridal Make Up, and Fantasy Hair styles.

Twelve countries from the Asian region will participate in this year’s competition which will be judged by an eminent panel of international judges. However Sri Lanka and Malaysia will not be represented on the panel.

Pantene Hair Asia Pacific will see Pantene Pro Vitamin B conduct a range of activities including a seminar on beauty care.

An Advisory Council has been set up in Malaysia for co-ordinating this event with some of Malaysia’s leading hairdressers such as Winnie Loo, Randal wong and Billy Lim being part of the team.

Pantene Hair Asia Pacific 2002 is one of the main events in the Asia Pacific beauty and hair care calendar and is indeed a feather in the cap of the SLAHAB.
