Anil Moonesinghe passes away

Former Minister and veteran politician Anil Moonesinghe passed away in a private hospital in Colombo on Sunday.

He was 75-year-old at the time of his demise.

Mr. Moonesinghe took to politics as a member of the Lanka Samasamaja Party in 1952. He was first elected to parliament from the Agalawatta electorate in 1956.

He was the Chairman of the CTB from 1970 to 1975. In 1983 he was elected to parliament from the Mathugama electorate from the SLFP. In the 1994 PA government Mr. Moonesinghe was the Deputy Speaker.
