The Thalangama police station covers a vast area including Battaramulla, Jayawardenapura, Malabe, Thalawathugoda and upto the borders of Pannipitiya, Welikada and Athurugiriya quite a lot of time and resourses of the Thalangama police is taken up by parliament duties for manning points on road ways approaching parliament which in my opinion is a waste of time and energy at a time when there is peace.

Having said so, I believe that the IGP should look at bolstering policing this area by establishing a station in Thalawathugoda which has become a focal point with current development taking place in and around the area and the influx of residents to these areas.

In this way the IGP and the government could arrest crime that is taking place in this area and also ensure law and order. It is further believed that with the peace process now in place there are enough and more police personnel available from the north and east who could be deployed at this new station — otherwise one could expect the crime rate in and around Thalangama hitting higher proportions.

Mr. IGP, don’t you think that crime should be nipped in the bud rather than permit full bloom. I know you are presently having your hands full with "boys who must be boys" but nevertheless, give my suggestion some thought.
