Eminent lawyer, civil servant and professional Gamini Iriyagolle (67) passed away at a private hospital in Colombo on Monday.

He authored several books on Sri Lankan history. Mr. Iriyagolle was educated at Ananda College and Royal College, Colombo.

He was the youngest to enter Law College at the age of 17. Mr. Iriyagolle entered the civil service as an Assistant Government Agent.

He obtained his postgraduate degree in UK at the age of 33. He served as an advisor to late Prime Minister Sirimawo Bandaranaike, P. B. Subasinghe and Gamini Dissanayake.

He is the son of the late I. M. R. A. Iriyagolle, a former Minister of Education.

The funeral will be held today at the Borella Kanatte at 5.00 p.m.
