|Tiger magistrate re-remands soldier
Soldier H. S. Nimal Kumara taken prisoner by the Tigers on December 24 when he unintentionally entered their area has been remanded by a Tiger magistrate again.
He was produced before an LTTE magistrate last Thursday and was remanded till March 7. Kumara who had been with the army for eight years was attached to a detachment at Welioya at the time of the incident.
He had been produced in the same court three times previously.
His wife and parents visited Kilinochchi in the belief the Tigers would set him free as Tiger negotiator Karuna assured Defence Secretary Austin Fernando that they would consider the soldiers case.
The Tigers want the government to accept legality of its judiciary by making representations in their Kilinochchi court on behalf of the soldier. (SF)
