Royal acknowledged as champions for 2003
The Elephant Lemonade Cup knock out limited overs tournament sponsored for the fifth successive year by Ceylon Cold Stores and organised by the SLSCA (Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association) is now on.

This tournament ,which has come to be accepted as the leading limited overs cricket tournament among schools in the country, will see the quarter finals worked off this week with the semi finals scheduled for next week.

One of the main features in this tournament will be the final which will be played for the first time away from Colombo at Tyronne Fernando Stadium in Moratuwa.

It is slated to be played on March 29 (Saturday).

Speaking at a press conference held in this connection in Colombo last Monday, B.S.Perera, Secretary of the SLSCA, said the main awards ceremony of the Elephant Lemonade Cup League and Knock tournaments will be held at the BMICH on May 31.

An official of the Ceylon Cold Stores told the media that a total sponsorship of Rs 1 million per year has been set apart by the domestic soft drink giants for the Lemonade Cup League and knock tournaments respectively.

Royal College Colombo has been acknowledged as the undisputed Schools Elephant Lemonade Cup champions for 2003.

The Quarter Final line up is as follows:

Dharmaraja Kandy vs Kingswood Kandy at BRC grounds on 21-3-2003.

D S Senanayake vs St.Peter’s at Braybrooke Place on 18-3-2003.

Nalanda vs Ananda at Braybrooke Place on 21-3-2003.

St.Benedict’s vs St.Sebastian’s at BRC grounds on 18-3-2003.

The semi finals have been scheduled to be played on March 25 at the P Sara Stadium and at the SSC grounds respectively. (JK)
