Caltex boosts
Deaf Schools 6-a-side softball cricket

The Deaf Schools six-a-side softaball cricket tournament will commence on Sunday July 6, 2003 at the De Soysa Stadium, Moratuwa at 10.15 a.m. and the awards ceremony will be held on same day.

The tournament is being organised by the Deaf School Past Pupils’ Association, the school for the Deaf Ratmalana and partnered by Caltex Lubricants Lanka Ltd., for the second successive year.

The champions will receive the Caltex Trophy with individual awards to eight players while the runners-up will be presented the Caltex Trophy, with individual awards to eight players. There will be an addition special gift packs presented by SriLankan Airlines for the best batsman, best bowler and best fielder, trophy for the man of the match and also gifts to all players.

Chairman organising committee Shivantha Vivekanandan said that Kishu Gomes, Managing Director of the Caltex has agreed to partner the Deaf School Past Pupils’ Association the School for the Deaf, Ratmalana to organise the Deaf Schools sports activities like netball, cricket and volleyball till 2004.

The tournament is open to all Deaf Schools free of tournament fees. Entry forms can be obtained from N. K. D. Ariyaratne, Hony. Secretary, Deaf School Past Pupils Association, The School for the Deaf, Ratmalana or Mrs. Marie Wijeyaratne (Principal) on 636351 during school hours. Entries close on June 21, 2003.
