Queen Elizabeth sends flood victim condolence to President

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has sent a message of condolence to President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga on Monday (26)

The message reads:

"We are shocked to learn of the terrible flooding which has afflicted Sri Lanka. Our thoughts are with those who have been bereaved, and those who are suffering as a result of this disaster."

Mr. Mike O’Brien, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Minister with direct responsibility for South Asia, has also sent a message of condolence to Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe on May 20.
