Low growns in demand

A quantity of 6.1 million kilos came under the hammer last week of which ex-estates comprised 0.84 million Kilos.

Eastern Brokers said that Low growns met with good demand which resulted in a firm to dearer market prevailing for most varieties with the exception of the OP’s and OPA’s which declined.

Quality of teas on offer in ex-estate catalogues showed an improvement and consequently a firm to dearer trend prevailed. Most BOPF’s continue to command a premium over its corresponding BOP’s. A selection of Uva offerings which showed an improvement in seasonal quality appreciated substantially following special enquiry. Others too appreciated but to a lesser extent.

There was fair demand for most off grades which saw prices ruling firm to marginally dearer. The poorer sorts however declined.

Dusts met a firm to dearer trend allround.
