For the first time in the history of Boxing in Sri Lanka three teams, Sri Lanka Air Force "A", Army "A", and Navy "A" emerged joint champions at the Caltex Boxing meet 2003 concluded at the Sri Lanka Military Academy hall on Saturday 23.

Sri Lanka Military Academy, Diyatalawa organised this meet in conjunction with the Amateur Boxing Association of Sri Lanka. Kishu Gomes, Managing Director of Caltex Lubricants Lanka Limited was the chief guest and gave away the trophies.

The President of the ABASL Jayakumar Thangavelu and the Secretary Brigadier J. Jayasuriya also graced the occasion.

T. D. N. Samaranayake of the Sri Lanka Army "A" was adjudged as Best Boxer in the tournament. R. M. S. N. Bandara of Sri Lanka Air Force knocked out the only Police player to enter the finals, T. H. Eric Perera in the first round of the light heavy weight under 81 Kgs. The Super Heavy weight over 91 kgs fight between D. P. M. H. Dharmasiri of Sri Lanka Navy and H. A. C. Hettiarachchie of Sri Lanka Army "A" excited the spectators present with several punching by both participants, however the former won by 22 points to 11.

Light Weight Under 60 Kgs - Champion: K. K. Jayasundara (Navy A). Runner-up: Y. U. G. S. Wijethunga (Army B)
