Union Assurance (UAL) was adjudged winner of a Bronze Award at the National Chamber of Exporters eleventh Awards, the first financial services institution to win an award at this prestigious event.

This is also the first time that UAL competed in the awards programme, in the Extra Large Category of the Service Providers to Exporters sector, of which sector UAL is Principle Sponsor.

The company was judged on its performance during the financial year in terms of the turnover and principle industries for which services were provided.

New services introduced, achievements and employee training as well as customer feedback and commitment to service quality enhancement were also considered when determining UAL’s capacity to provide a quality service to exporters.

The award was presented at a gala celebration of excellence in exports, held at the Colombo Hilton on August 15. "Its all in the family" quipped compere Savitri Rodrigo as a smiling Hydery Rehmanjee, Director/Consultant UAL, accepted the NCE trophy, medal and certificate from UAL CEO Marina Tharmaratnam.

"As a leading insurer with one of the largest marine portfolios in Sri Lanka, UAL has supported the export industry since inception and this is yet another recognition of the invaluable contribution that our exporters make, to the growth and success of our economy.

We are also very proud that many of the winners each year are our clients. The NCE’s initiative in promoting excellence in business enterprise ties in with UAL’s own pursuit of excellence in business." UAL has been closely associated with the NCE for the past nine years.
