Open letter to Samurdhi Minister

May I crave your indulgence to place the following facts for your kind and sympathetic consideration and urge to grant me relief.

I am 80-years and my wife 65-years and the other who make this appeal are all 65-years and 70-years of age and recipients of food stamps from the very inception, that is nearly 20 year back.

For the last 9 months, we have all been denied food stamps and instead we have been issued with food coupons, with which we cannot obtain our requirements from SATHOSA .

May I also state that an officer of the Samurdhi Department, has taken the privilege of issuing food stamps to persons who are well off and who are in receipt of income of over Rs. 5000 and who possess three-wheelers.

We appeal to you to kindly inquire into these allegations and grant us the opportunity of receiving our food stamps coupons.

All recipient in other areas, are exempted from paying Rs. 10 each per week and we are looking forward to an investigation into this matter.

We have been loyal supporters of the present government and we are at a loss as to understand why we are being treated in this manner.
