by Cyril Wimalasurendre
KANDY —
A newly married couple travelled all the way from Kahatuduwa to Kandy to enjoy their "honeymoon" in a top class tourist hotel but they least expected their happiest day would be spoilt.

To their dismay, the couple found that the wallet and the cellular telephone belonging to the husband had disappeared from the cupboard in the room they spent the night in.

They reported this to the Kandy Police on Saturday (25). The purse contained at least Rs. 15,000.

In their complaint to police the couple has said they stayed in the hotel the previous night.

The couple has further said that the management of the hotel was not willing to take the responsibility of the security of the belongings.

However, due to the prompt action taken by the Kandy police to investigate the complaint, it was found that there were two more keys to the room with the hotel management in addition to the one that was given to the couple.

Investigations are being conducted by IP R. A. P. Dharmaratne, OIC Crime Detection Branch of the Kandy Police on instructions of CI Edmond Mahendra HQI.
