Exhibition of Sri Lankan handicrafts

An exhibition and sales outlet of Sri Lankan handicrafts together with promotional activities for Sri Lanka tourism was launched in Berlin, Germany recently.

The whole programme was organised by the National Crafts Council with the sponsorship of the Sri Lanka Tourist Board and the SriLankan Airline. This event was assisted by the National Dancing team from the Department of Cultural Affairs.

Sri Lankan Ambassador in Germany and his staff spared no pains to make this event a success.

Four craftspeople registered under the National Crafts Council got their chance to participate in this tour. The National Crafts Council had an opportunity to introduce Sri Lankan craftmen and crafts to the European countries. Two Sri Lankan films "Sudu Sewaneli" by Professor Sunil Ariyaratne and "Agnidahaya" by Jayantha Chandrasiri were on the German Theater.

Dr. Buddhi Keerthisena, Chairman National Crafts Council, S. M. D. V. Senarathne, Member of the Board, Dayasiri Lambiyas - Deputy Director (Development) Mrs. Niranjala Gunasinghe, Project Officer and six members of the National Dance Team went on this tour.
