Two soldiers hurt as mine explodes
by Norman Palihawadana
Two soldiers were injured when an anti-personnel mine exploded at Kankesanthurai in Jaffna yesterday.
Army spokesman Col. Sumedha Perera said the two soldiers were on their way to breakfast when the explosion occurred. They have been warded at the Palaly hospital.
The Army suspect that this mine was one which had been buried some-time back.
Meanwhile, the LTTE is making elaborate preparations to celebrate Heroes Week this month. Posters were being printed and arrangements are being made to celebrate the occasion on a grand scale, Army sources said.
The EPDP has accused the LTTE of prohibiting fishing in the lakes around Eranamadu in Killinochchi. It claims the LTTE is using these lakes to train its cadres in diving.
