Chief of the Colombo Municipal Council, Dr. Pradeep Kariyawasam will receive the ‘Green Apple Award,’ from the Green Organisation for his efforts to improve the outdoor environment of homes in the Colombo City today (November 6). The Green Organisation, a British environmental organisation, will present the Green Apple Award under the International category to Dr. Kariyawasam at the Britain’s House of Commons.

The Minister of State for Trade and Women’s Affairs will hand over the award to Dr. Kariyawasam who successfully carried out the Green Star project for the third year reducing the number of dengue cases in the city.

Dr. Kariyawasam said on Monday that the Public Health Department planned to continue with the project so that dengue would not spread in the city. (DJ)
