Harper to umpire in Tests and ODI’s Australian umpire Daryl Harper has been appointed by the ICC (International Cricket Council) as the neutral umpire for the impending three match one day international series between Sri Lanka and England due to commence shortly. In addition to his duties as the neutral umpire in the ODI series, Harper who is widely regarded as Australia’s top ranked umpire will also officiate in first and second Tests between the two teams alongside Indian S Venkataraghavan and Pakistani Aleem Dar. The third and final Test will be officiated by Dar and West Indian Steve Bucknor. According to Sri Lanka Cricket home umpires Gamini Silva, Peter Manuel and T H Wijewardene are expected to be rotated alongside Harper for the one day international series. The third umpire and the stand bye umpires for the Test series are yet to be announced by Sri Lanka Cricket. |
