Akzo Nobel extends ‘Permoglaze’ franchise with Asian Paints

Akzo Nobel of UK have extended its brand franchise agreement with Asian Paints (Lanka) Ltd, for the local manufacture, distribution and sale of Permoglaze paints in Sri Lanka, a media release said.

Announcing the extension of the agreement, Asian Paints (Lanka) Director/General Manager M. Sudhir said the company will continue to produce and market a range of more than 50 shades of high quality Permoglaze emulsion, exterior and enamel paints in Sri Lanka.

The Permoglaze range would be marketed alongside Asian Paints’ flagship emulsions brand "Apcolite", Sudhir said. "The continued availability of the Permoglaze brand through Asian Paints provides consumers with a wide choice of products and price," he added.

"We are proud of the confidence Akzo Nobel has reposed on us to manufacture and market Permoglaze, one of Sri Lanka’s most popular paints," Sudhir said.

Permoglaze has occupied a prominent position in the local market since its launch in Sri Lanka in 1985. The brand has been marketed in Sri Lanka by Asian Paints since 1999. In addition to Permoglaze, the company manufactures and markets an exclusive range of internationally reputed products including Apcolite wall finishes, Autocare automative paints, Epoxy floor paints, Apocolite exterior varnish, Apcolite wood finishes, enamels, thinners and industrial paints, the release said.

Asian Paints Lanka’s parent company Asian Paints is the largest paint company in India and ranks among the top ten decorative coatings companies in the world with a turnover of US$ 435 million. Asian Paints operates in 23 countries and is the largest paint company in nine of its overseas markets, the release added.
